ALTERNATIVE FORMAT

Because of the COVID-19 virus it is certain that we have cancelled the 6th Tokyo Conference on Argumentation as a concrete social event taking place at International Budo University on August 10 – 12, 2020. But we want the conference to go on in another modified way. Tokyo eConference is an on-demand platform where presentation files are available for viewing and participants can leave comments to the presentations. No real-time video-conference is scheduled.

The 6th Tokyo Conference on Argumentation will be held online between (1) August 10 (Mon) -12 (Wed) , 2020, for presenters, JDA members, and invited audiences who view presentations (video/paper) and write comments or questions, (2) August 13 (Thu)-15 (Sat) for presenters who post responses, and (3) August 16 (Sun)-August 31 (Mon) for general audiences who view the presentations and the posted comments, questions and responses. Invitation email will be sent to the registered audiences soon after August 16.

The conference is sponsored by the Japan Debate Association (JDA) and in cooperation with International Budo University, Chiba near Tokyo, Japan. The conference is designed to encourage exchanges of views on the theory, practice and instruction of argumentation across the disciplines.

Potential topics of interest include: argumentation and rhetoric, forensic pedagogy, the philosophy and psychology of reasoning, practical studies, and studies of historical argumentative texts. Presentations related to the convention theme “Argumentation and Education” are encouraged, but proposals are not restricted to it. Qualified papers will appear in our Proceedings to be distributed online soon after the Conference.
